We use the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible at GMBC. We do so for many reasons, but the most important is that it is the full and complete word of God. While more modern versions of the Bible may be easier to read for some, modern versions also remove entire verses, call into question others, and change the wording of many more.

Furthermore, in time, you will come to notice–as I have–that the KJV is easier to remember and memorize, which we are called to do as Christians anyway (Joshua 1:8), and that it is far more memorable in its wording. Yes, there will be some words you will have to look up, but a good reader does this with any book.

To help get you started, here are some quick articles, books, a comprehensive table, and a great video on the changes the modern versions have made to the Bible.

May the Lord bless you and your studies.

Respectfully,
GMBC

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
